這次小女兒代表南部地區參加全國英語演講比賽, 沒有得到名次, 整個過程, 是女兒一生難得的經驗. 今天, 她寫了一封信, 給STTC(ScienTech Toastmasters Club 科工英語演講會)的會員, 感謝他們的支持及鼓勵, 原文如下;
Dear all members,
No pain, no gain ; no pressure, no progress.
This is what I want to share with you through my experience of standing on the stage in Spring convention. Sitting as an audience, and standing up as a contestant is totally different. .......
I didn't sleep well for last 2 months ; I got stomach-ache before the convention ; I got 情緒崩潰 when I knew I was 1st place in Division D contest, which means that I need to go one more BIG contest. However, all those pains turned into a marvelous experience.
I witnessed how great my competitors did in the stage. That's what I missed, and what I lacked.
I made a lot of friends there from other clubs around Taiwan.. That's what beyone STTC.
I didn't get the first 3 prizes, but I won a unforgettable experience, really!!
I'd like to thank all STTC members to support me as a contestant, and to listen to my rehersal over, and over again. Sorry to bother you, 嘻!
I especially thank Sharlene(STTC 現任會長), who is always like big mama to remind me of every detail things, no matter on script or contest. Thank you !
Fu-Mei(參加國語即席演講比賽, 獲得第二名), thank you to help me in the last minute. Without you help, I can't complete my speech yesterday. Thank you.
Catherine(特別把父母親也帶到比賽現場), thank you for being there as a cheerleader. It comforted me a lot.
Stephen, thanks for the cake. That little gift gave me warm, and encouragement.
At last, my dad is the greatest man behind my back. I can't dare to rehearse in front of him, but whenever I need help, he's always there. Thank you, and I love you~
Please allow me to say one more thing!! If you have any chance, pls hold the opportunity, and be the contestant ONCE, no matter in-club, area, or division. You'll gain more than you expect.
